Thin-film Technologies- Copper Indium Diselenide
Overview:
Product Description:
Copper Indium Diselenide (CIS): This polycrystalline thin-film material has extremely high absorptive ability, meaning 99% of light shining on CIS will be absorbed in first micrometre of the material. CIS technology uses a heterojunction interface, which means that an electric field is created with an interface made of two different semiconductor materials. This is in contrast to homojunction interfaces used in crystalline Si cells, where two doped layers of the same material are used.
CIS Basics:
- 2 year payback period. (2.7 yrs with frame)
- Typical module efficiency = 8 – 10%
- Max. cell efficiency = 18.8%
