Mermet - Intelligent Fabrics [BLP]

Overview:

Range of transparent heat and glare control PVC coated fibreglass window covering fabrics for use in residential and commercial internal and external blind applications.

Product Description:

Range of sunscreen fabrics for use as internal and external window coverings, made from a woven, solution dyed fibreglass fabric base coated in PVC. Fabrics can effectively reduce heat and glare transmitted into internal spaces while maximising outward vision relative to their light transmission characteristics.

Mermet’s PVC coated fibreglass range of fabrics is designed to resist moisture, bacteria, fading and warpage and are antimicrobial. The fabrics can achieve reduction in the demand for air conditioning, reducing electricity consumption and associated greenhouse gases. The fabrics provide some thermal benefit, but actual performance will depend on the hardware configuration used.

Within the range, there are blind/screen fabrics designed to suit various types of internal and external blind applications, including roller blinds, roman shades, decorative panels, skylights, and flat, shaped or tensioned structures.

Mermet does not manufacture the finished blinds, but rather, the fabric/screen used for the blinds. Sunscreens can be connected to building management systems for optimal control of glare and thermal efficiency.

Mermet’s range of intelligent fabrics has been GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® as meeting minimum product emission requirements for children and schools.

ecospecifier Issues of Concern / Red Lights?

No MSDS information for dye stuffs was provided by the manufacturer. However given products are solution dyed and dyes are locked into structure of the PVC  filaments there is an unlikely risk of dyes causing sensitising impacts to human health or marine ecosystems. Therefore, Intelligent fabrics can be considered safe for usage as internal blinds.
