Hunter Douglas- GREENSCREEN® Generation Internal Sunscreens [BLP]

Overview:

A range of low VOC, internal sunscreen fabrics made from 100% polyester yarn. GREENSCREEN® Generation is suitable for use in residential and commercial window covering applications.

Product Description:

Hunter Douglas GREENSCREEN® Generation is a low VOC fabric made from polyester (see Constituents) for use on internal window covering applications.

The fabrics effectively reduce heat and glare in internal spaces while still allowing outward vision. In doing so the fabric can achieve some reduction in the demand for air conditioning, reducing electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, but actual performance will depend on the hardware configuration used.

Reducing glare and blocking out UV rays, while still allowing visibility through the shades, contributes to improved indoor environmental conditions for building occupants.

Hunter Douglas GREENSCREEN™ Generation fabric eliminate VOC emissions usually introduced into buildings with PVC based fabrics. The products are also 100% recyclable, but are not currently recycled in Australia by Hunter Douglas.

Country of Origin

Yarn is manufactured in Auckland, NZ and transported to Sydney.

Ecospecifier Issues of Concern / Red Lights

Minor issue: polyester is based on fossil fuel petrochemical polymer, however provided the fabric is fully recycled (after usable life) this investment in resources will be off-set by reduced material use in the future. Products with recycled polyester content obviously have a significant reduction in embodied energy and environmental impact.

Assessment Comparison
