Overview:
Low and very low formaldehyde emission, medium density fibreboard (MDF) panel coated with a zero VOC solid powder-coat. Suitable for residential and commercial interior applications.
Product Description:
element™ panels are low VOC and formaldehyde emitting (E1 grade) MDF panels, coated in zero VOC solid based powder-coating by Climate™. Individual particles are heat fused and melted onto the board to create a resilient decorative panel. Standard product is suitable for interior applications including:
Retail- joinery, linings, slatwall
Commercial- furniture/partitioning, linings, demountable walls
Hospitality- linings, joinery, furniture
Residential- kitchen/bathroom cabinetry, wardrobes, storage and shelving.
element™ comes standard on moisture resistant (MR) MDF panels.
The inert, 100% solid powder-coating finish used to create elementTM MDF panels contains zero VOCs and only low levels of VOC’s are contained within the MDF panel itself.
element™ is also available, upon request, on very low formaldehyde emission MDF (E0 grade), which complies with the relevant Japanese standard (JAS F**** ).
E0 grade MDF represents a significant reduction in formaldehyde emissions from E1 grade MDF, however, both E0 and E1 MDF are compliant with relevant Australian Standards.
Use of this product is likely to contribute to the achievement of Green Star™ credit points.
Issues of Concern/ Red Lights?
Element™ MDF is made from plantation grown radiata pine of New Zealand. These timber sources do not have Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
Various timber certification schemes are currently in operation in regards to sustainably managed timber plantations as sources of wood. An analysis of the various timber certification schemes reveals that the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the most rigorous and robust, and environmentally desirable certification to receive, due to the stringent criteria followed.(eg. FSC is the only scheme based on a clear set of min. performance based criteria, prohibits the conversion of forests to plantations, and also prohibits the use of GMO trees).
