Product Description:
Style Lock and Style Select, pre-finished, strand woven bamboo flooring are rapidly renewable flooring products, suitable for residential and commercial interior flooring installations over various sub-floors (plywood-10mm min., existing wood floors, resilient tile, particleboard, concrete slab, ceramic tile).
Style Lock incorporates the unique licensed technology with the Unilin Patented Locking Solid Floor System, which allows a floating floor to be installed, requiring no adhesives or mechanical fixing. This ‘click-lock’ bamboo floor development has significant disassembly and reuse benefits, and reduced installation labour and energy costs.
For installation of Style Select, Style Limited recommends a direct-stick installation method using a low VOC wood flooring adhesive. No further coating or sanding is required, avoiding the mess and toxic VOCs normally associated with onsite sanding and polishing.
The flooring is 6-layer coated with solvent-free and UV cured (low VOC) finishes, including the wear protection of aluminium oxide with two polyurethane scratch-resistant topcoats (see Technical Specifications).
The solid bamboo flooring is termite resistant, and has ultra low formaldehyde emissions. The reconstituted bamboo flooring is very durable and has a very high Janka Hardness rating (see Technical Specifications).
Issues of Concern/ Red Lights?
Manufacturer recommends the direct stick method of fixing using SikaBond T55J wood flooring adhesive. SikaBond state that the maximum VOC content of the adhesive is 53.7g/L, meaning the adhesive would be considered ‘low VOC.’ However, VOC emissions have not been third party tested. The safety data sheet states that vapours of the product have a potentially narcotic effect in enclosed spaces.

Indicative cost:
The Select T&G product is likely to retail for approx. $ 75.00 / m2 and the Style Lock approx. $ 90.00 /m2. Style Lock flooring would require a quality foam cell underlay approx .2 to 3 mm to provide a superb foot feel and excellent acoustic benefits. These prices exclude GST.
Installation costs do vary, however, you could generally assume a cost of around $30 to 35 / m2 plus any additional costs related to the peculiarities of your project. Most resellers have a number of recommended Installers that are experienced with floating floors. For the direct glue Select range, adhesives and floor surface preparation will add to the overall installation cost. Please note; installer rates do vary from city to city.
Bamboo is a viable ‘rapidly renewable’ solid wood alternative to hardwood flooring thereby reducing the demand to log native forests. MossoBamboo is self regenerating and grows to full maturity within 5 years. Suitable poles are hand selected for harvesting by experienced plantation farmers. It can be re-harvested every 4-5 years and self germinates.
