GECA Ecolabel Certified - Laminex® Lamiwood® MR MDF [BLP]

Overview:

Low VOC pre-finished decorated moisture resistant Craftwood® MDF. Suitable for vertical applications for residential and commercial purposes.

Product Description:

Moisture resistant medium density fibreboard, with hardwearing melamine surfaces suitable for vertical applications. Available in LFE (low formaldehyde emission) E1 substrate options, finished product contains less than 0.01% free formaldehyde. Very low VOC’s emitted.

Contains Ecopreferred content- 60% pre-consumer recycled content - material diverted from the waste stream during a manufacturing process, and 40% reclaimed silviculture fibre, including slash, caribaea and hoop pine from Queensland government plantations and radiata and pinaster pine from Western Australian government and private plantations. The Laminex Group are pursuing chain of custody certification for the supply of its raw material.

Heavy metals are not present in the inks used, and Elemental Chlorine Free bleached pulp used for decorative paper.

Can be used for low impact furniture and joinery applications, including cupborad doors, storage units, shelving, wall linings and general joinery. Suitable for high humidity areas. Panels are self supporting and decorated on both sides. They can be cut, edged and assembled using mechanical fixing systems. Furniture and joinery can be disassembled, reused, refurbished or easily replaced.

This product is part of Laminex’s Greenfirst range, certified by GEC Australia.

Ecospecifier Issues of Concern / Red Lights: 

As stated in Raw Materials Discussion, Lamiwood is not made using FSC certified timber but the product is essentially comprised of waste or by product wood fibre that could otherwise end up as landfill. However, as mentioned above, The Laminex Group is currently trying to source chain of custody certification for the supply of its raw material.
