Product Description:
Formica® Flooring is a modular floating high density fibreboard (HDF) flooring system where panels are not fixed to the floor. Each panel connects to the next by a profiled edge locking system, allowing for easy installation, disassemby and reinstallation.
A significant proportion of pre-consumer recycled (approx 60%) and reclaimed wood fibre (30%) is used in the production of the HDF used to make the flooring system. Laminated with melamine resin impregnated paper to increase durability.
The product is chlorine and PVC free, and does not contain any wood preservatives or harmful solvents.
The HDF panels used comply with low formaldehyde emission level E1. Edges of flooring panels are factory sealed for increased mositure protection. However, it is not recommended for use in bathrooms, laundries and toilets, or on sub-floors with under-floor heating.

Issues of Concern/ Red Lights?
The HDF panles comply with the low formaldehyde emission level E1 according to the European Standard EN 717.2:1995 and Australian Standard AS/NZS 1859.2:2004 for MDF. Formaldehyde emissions are well below the workplace exposure limit set by the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission and comply with the voluntary standards of GECA.
Various timber certification schemes are currently in operation in regards to sustainably managed timber plantations as sources of wood. An analysis of the various timber certification schemes reveals that the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the most rigorous and robust, and environmentally desirable certification to receive, due to the stringent criteria followed.(eg. FSC is the only scheme based on a clear set of min. performance based criteria, prohibits the conversion of forests to plantations, and also prohibits the use of GMO trees).
