EcoSpective Pty Ltd- Enito Palmwood Flooring [BLP]

Overview:

Timber flooring, tongue and groove joining overlay material made from recycled senile coconut palm trees. Suitable for residential and commercial applications.

Product Description:

Enito Palmwood Flooring is an extremely hard and durable hardwood flooring overlay with striking colour, appearance and grain structure. Made from coconut palm trees sourced from South-East Asia, millions of these trees were planted in the early-mid twentieth century to produce coconut oil.

The trees used for Enito Palmwood Flooring are recycled 60-80+ year old trees that, due to their age, have become, non-fruit bearing plants.  It is necessary to remove them as part of replanting or land reclamation projects.

As they are already over mature they sequest far less CO2 from the atmosphere, and are otherwise, wasted.

Sections of coconut palm lumber are milled into planks and then kiln dried to 10-12% Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC).  Planks are then machined into flooring profiles. The finished product is a 15mm thick tongue and groove jointed timber strip flooring suitable for residential and commercial applications.

Because of the difference in grain structure to other hardwood floors, Enito is very stable. The flooring experiences less expansion and contraction during fluctuations in humidity.

Enito Palmwood flooring is not pre-finished. A low VOC timber floor coating should be used for optimum indoor air quality. The option for pre-finished flooring planks is being developed.

Issues of Concern/ Red Lights?

EcoSpective advises that Enito Palmwood flooring 15mm overlay should be fixed to the underlay surface using glue. If choosing to use nails care must be taken not to damage the planks when installing. Contact EcoSpective for details. Flooring should be installed by a licensed professional floor layer.

While the timber source of Enito Palmwood Flooring is not FSC certified, as a recycled ‘plantation’ waste material sourced from senile plantations, this is not a necessity.
